Overview
Essaouira is located at about 170 km North of Agadir. In the past the Portuguese baptized this fortified town ‘Mogador’. Essaouira is characterized by white houses with Portuguese style shutters and doors and a long sandy beach of about 5 km. The visit includes the Medina, the harbour with its colored boats, the fish market, the marine gate, the Skala Kasbah with the ramparts and the bronze canons from the Spanish era. A specialty of Essaouira is woodcarving (thuya, cedar and ebony). This beautiful town is also a cradle all kinds of artists and a cultural melting point.
